TCM Power Input Signal Intermittent

Symptoms
- Check engine light
- harsh shifting (e.g. harsh 2-3 or 3-4 upshifts that were previously smooth)
- transmission slipping or momentary false neutral where the engine revs freely mid-shift
- transient limp mode that clears after a key cycle and then returns hours or days later.
Probable causes
- 1) Blown fuse
- defective fusible link
- or bad power relay in the TCM supply circuit. 2) Damaged wiring harness or loose/corroded electrical connections. 3) Failing battery or charging system. 4) Faulty TCM (less common).
Diagnostic steps
- Check battery voltage and alternator output first.
- Check all fuses, fusible links, and the TCM power relay; replace any blown or defective ones and retest.
- Perform a visual inspection of TCM-related wiring and connectors; repair or replace wiring that is cut, burned, chafed, or corroded.
- With a DVOM, test the voltage and ground circuits at the TCM and/or PCM connectors.
- If no voltage is present, trace the supply circuit back to the fuse/relay and repair the open.
- If power and ground are good and the fault persists, suspect the TCM itself.
