- on some vehicles the transmission enters limp mode with reduced function.
Probable causes
- Defective pressure control solenoid B (stuck, coil burnout, or contaminated)
- dirty
- contaminated or low transmission fluid
- clogged transmission filter
- problems in the transmission pump or valve body
- wiring/connector faults (corrosion, broken pins) between TCM and solenoid
- damaged TCM.
Diagnostic steps
- Scan for P0775 and companion transmission codes; record freeze frame data.
- Check transmission fluid level and condition — low or dirty/contaminated fluid is a likely cause; service fluid and filter if degraded.
- Inspect the wiring harness and connectors to the solenoid for corrosion, broken pins and damage.
- Verify solenoid operation electrically and hydraulically (bench test or pressure gauge check per manufacturer procedure).
- If the solenoid tests bad, replace it; if fluid passages/valve body or pump are implicated, repair the hydraulic side.
- If commands are not reaching the solenoid with good wiring, test TCM communication/outputs before condemning the TCM.
- Clear codes and road test through all shift ranges to confirm normal shifting and no code reset.
