DTC code

C1241

ABS Hydraulic Pressure Differential Switch Input Short Circuit To Ground

Technical guide

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light
  • traction control light
  • brake warning light and/or check engine light illuminated
  • traction control
  • stability control and ABS may be disabled
  • vehicle may fail to start or stall randomly
  • flickering or dimming headlights
  • erratic gauge readings
  • power steering may feel heavy or notchy.

Probable causes

  • Most likely to least likely: weak or aging battery unable to maintain a steady state of charge (internal resistance increases with age, causing voltage fluctuations under load)
  • charging system fault - faulty alternator diodes
  • worn brushes or bearings
  • bad wiring or loose connections in the power source circuit
  • internal power supply circuit fault in the skid control ECU.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Read all stored codes with a scan tool and note freeze frame data.
  2. Measure battery voltage with a multimeter and load-test the battery.
  3. Perform a charging system test: measure alternator output voltage with the engine running.
  4. Inspect battery terminals, ground straps and power source circuit wiring/connectors to the skid control ECU for looseness or corrosion.
  5. If battery and charging system test good and wiring is intact, suspect the internal power supply circuit of the skid control ECU.
  6. Clear the code and confirm it does not return.

Cross-checked technical synthesis (QA). It does not replace the manufacturer's procedure.

AI here is a librarian: this page shows only what mechanics confirmed, or says “unknown”. It never suggests a diagnosis — MECCANIC interprets the code, never your car.
