Speed Wheel RR Input Signal Missing

Symptoms
- ABS warning light illuminated
- traction control and stability control disabled or malfunctioning
- increased stopping distance with ABS inoperative
- possible erratic speedometer readings.
Probable causes
- 1) Faulty right rear wheel speed sensor. 2) Damaged or corroded sensor wiring
- loose or disconnected sensor connector — corroded harness connectors are a leading cause in corrosion-prone regions. 3) Metallic brake dust accumulated on the magnetic sensor tip (notably on Toyota/Lexus). 4) Damaged tone ring or worn wheel bearing/hub assembly.
Diagnostic steps
- Read ABS codes with a scan tool and view live wheel speed data while driving at low speed — identify the wheel reporting 0 mph while the others read vehicle speed.
- Visually inspect the right rear wheel speed sensor, its wiring and connector for damage, corrosion or looseness.
- Clean metallic brake dust off the sensor tip and the tone ring.
- Test the sensor with a multimeter — check resistance against spec and verify signal output while rotating the wheel.
- Inspect the tone ring for cracked or missing teeth and check the wheel bearing/hub for play.
- Replace the sensor, repair the wiring or replace the hub assembly as indicated, then clear the code and road-test to confirm the ABS light stays off.
