DTC code

B0116

Camera Washer Actuator N

Technical guide

Symptoms

  • Illuminated or flashing airbag (SRS) warning light
  • B0116 stored in the airbag control module
  • risk that the left-side airbag will not deploy in a collision. No drivability symptoms.

Probable causes

  • Damaged wiring or connectors in the left-side airbag squib circuit
  • faulty squib in the left-side airbag module
  • corrosion
  • moisture or poor connections in the airbag system
  • blown fuse
  • prior impact/collision damage to airbag components
  • faulty airbag control module.

Diagnostic steps

  1. SAFETY FIRST: turn the ignition OFF, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes before touching any SRS connectors or wiring — the airbag and pretensioners can still deploy during that period.
  2. Read the SRS codes with a scan tool and confirm B0116 (flash code 48 on Toyota).
  3. Visually inspect the left-side squib circuit wiring and connectors (including under-seat connectors on the LH side) for damage; check connector pins for being broken, bent, pushed out or corroded.
  4. Perform continuity tests on the squib circuit to locate the open, following the service manual procedure for the specific model.
  5. Check for applicable Toyota TSBs for B0111/B0116 side squib circuit faults on the model in question.
  6. Repair the wiring/connector or replace the affected airbag module as found; airbag module and control module work should be done by a technician experienced with SRS.
  7. Reconnect the battery, clear the codes and confirm the SRS light goes out after the self-test.

Cross-checked technical synthesis (QA). It does not replace the manufacturer's procedure.
