VAG DSG — U0101 communication failure with transmission control module, intermittent.

Make a quote🔧 MECCANIC is the platform's AI librarian: documented reference material, not a mechanic's lived case. It becomes confirmed knowledge only when real mechanics confirm it on their cars. Exact values (torques, pressures, thresholds): manufacturer's official documentation.
Sporadic, especially when cold or after a long period of inactivity: transmission control module fault, sometimes refusal to move for a few seconds, U0101 stored in multiple modules. After restarting, everything returns to normal within hours or days.

Communication codes require electrical troubleshooting skills, not just replacing parts: (1) battery and ground condition – a weak battery or an oxidized ground (including the chassis ground) will definitely cause sporadic communication failures; measure the voltage drop on the grounds under load; (2) CAN pair to TCM – terminator resistance measured at the connector, wire insulation along the wiring harness (documented friction points vary by platform); (3) TCM connector – oxidized/retracted pins, moisture; (4) only as a last resort, check the TCM itself. The history of recent repairs (battery replacement, work in the chassis area) is the first clue – what was touched last is the primary suspect.
